Beerland answers call for new brewhouse

A handful of wise hospitality men have answered our call.

A couple of months after The Sip lamented the paucity of brewpubs and craft beer bars in Perth’s Northern Suburbs, a well-known operation has decided to be fill one of the vacancies by being in two places at one.

The team behind the Northbridge Brewing Company will soon divide and another base will be built at the Whitfords hub in Hillarys. The Whitfords Brewing Company will replicate the approach of its older sibling with an operational beer making facility incorporated into food serving areas.

The two operations will carry the Beerland label setting up business as a possible chain operation. The franchise operations are popular in the United States as companies such as Gordon Biersch, Karl Strauss and Rock Bottom spread their wings across the country.

Whitfords Brewing Company will ensure a similar influence to the NBC with master brewer Ken Arrowsmith to oversee the installation of the brewhouse and put through the initial varieties.

With fingers and toes crossed and all the planets in alignment, WBC should be open by this time next year.

The venue will produce up to 120,000 litres of beer a year from a 12 hectolitre kit, including the award-winning Beerland Pale Ale, Wheat, Kolsch, IPA, Lager and regular small batch releases.

Spread over two levels, the ground floor will have impressive frontage opening up over Whitfords Ave, a large alfresco area and a skydeck looking back towards the ocean.

Whitfords Brewing Company Plan The Sip

Beerland spokesperson Ben Rasheed said WBC wanted to bring well-made craft beer, great food and fun times to Perth’s northern suburbs, which The Sip had been so keen to see.

“We often have customers tell us that there are limited hospitality options in the northern suburbs, so when approached by Westfield with their plans to transform Whitford City we jumped right on board,” Rasheed said.

“We’re looking forward to be being part of the local community and giving people something that they would otherwise have to travel for.”

Beerland was formalising its application with the liquor licensing authorities and is calling on people to complete the online survey which can be found on its website.

“It’s also the only opportunity to become a Foundation VIP Member which will carry some special benefits for those who share their thoughts with us through the online survey,” Rasheed said.

So to our team, there you go. Your hopes have come true. Quickly, too.
