Artisan Brewing makes up for lost beer

WA Beer: Artisan Brewing wins SWCBF gong. The Sip.

Last year Brian Fitzgerald ran out of beer at the South West Craft Beer Festival.

Twelve months later his Artisan Brewing ran away with first prize in the Judges’ Choice award.

The three-way collaboration Artisan did with the Monk in Fremantle and the Cellarbrations Superstore – a Belgian beauty called Tripel Treating was the overwhelming favourite of the picking bunch of beer connoisseurs.

Tripel Treating was originally struck from WA Beer Week in November.

“It is a nice turnaround,” said Fitzgerald after picking up his $500 prize with wife Julia, above.

Other brews that caused considerable discussion amongst the judges was Bootleg’s Gose, Blue Mile’s Lambic and the Cheeky Monkey West Coast India Pale Ale.

Despite the deluge of rain that hit south WA, around 2500 travelled to Busselton for the annual showcase of the region’s breweries.
