More big beer moves brewing on WA's Otherside

The big appointments continue at the fast-growing Otherside Brewery.

The operation is controlled by parent company Triple-1-Three and this week the business group announced Al Taylor, above front, former chairman of brand agency 303MullenLowe, as chief executive officer.

Taylor will drive the continued expansion of the group and its rapidly growing venues and brands portfolio, which currently includes Otherside Brewing Co., Otherside Brewhouse, Freo.Social, Tapped By Otherside and Nomads.

He joins the business at an exciting time. During the last 12 months Triple-1-Three‘s Otherside Brewery has doubled its brewing production capacity to support growth and has seen sales increase by more than 300 per cent. It is now one of the largest craft breweries in WA.

The group also launched its popular Otherside Brewhouse in Myaree in June followed by Nomads – a food trucks brand – in late 2018. In early 2019, it will launch Freo.Social, a new multi-million dollar, entertainment venue in the heart of Fremantle that will include a microbrewery, 550-person capacity entertainment hall, co-working spaces and artist workshops, food trucks and catering, and beer gardens.

Taylor said he was incredibly excited by the opportunity and challenge.

“When I left 303MullenLowe, my plan was to find my next adventure. One where I could apply my skills to best effect. A place that gets the value of culture, is doing something really interesting and has a big and meaningful ambition. No question Triple-1-Three is all that and more. Its directors, David (Chitty), above right, and James (Legge), above back, have started something really special which is clearly connecting with the community,” he said.

Triple-1-Three co-founder and director Chitty said the team was thrilled with Taylor’s appointment.

“We are very excited to welcome Al as our CEO. His demonstrated leadership and business and brand development credentials will significantly benefit our business. We were particularly drawn to his passion and proven expertise in building culture and organisational capability. And, of course, his significant strategic ability which is critical as we continue our expansion of Triple-1-Three.” Chitty said.

Taylor’s arrival follows the appointment of Advanced Cicerone Matt Marinich as Group Venue Manager following his stint with Stomping Ground in Melbourne.

And former Feral and Gage Roads sales chief Steve Finney also came on board to push the Otherside brand this month.

Otherside has also strengthened its sales approach on the east coast following strong success in WA.
