Eagle Bay brew team embroiled in Lager Saga
Eagle Bay Brewing is giving a lot of WA beer lovers the chance to live out of a dream.
Over decades west coast brew sippers have consumed a raft of lagers and almost every one has, after a few mouthfuls, sat back, looked at the glass, bottle or can and thought what he or she could do to make that beer into a better example of the style.
The Eagle Bay team has had some very robust debates at Lager at their South West premises.
There was a push for the brewery to add a Lager to its core range. Once that was discusses and agreed to, the next task was to decide what type of Lager it should be.
Unfortunately, consensus couldn’t be reached. So Eagle Bay is enlisting the help of WA beer aficionados to make the call.
Starting this week, Eagle Bay has four styles of Lager on tap at various locations and punters are being asked to vote for their favourite. The beer with the most votes gets the nod to join the brewery’s range.
“We wanted to bring this one to the people, because lager is such a people’s beer,” said head brewer, Nick d’Espeissis about the poll.
“Lagers are summery, easy to drink and best enjoyed with a bunch of friends, but they’re
are not all created equal. We wanted to try a few options that played on different flavours and aromas. It will be interesting to see which one comes out on top.”
Participating venues include The Fire Station, Petition Beer Corner, Mane Liquor and
Eagle Bay Brewing Co.
The winning taste will take up long-term residence in bottles and taps across the state from
Dec 1st, just in time for the festive season.
