Gage Roads wins Perth Stadium deal in WA beer boost

Gage Roads wins Perth Stadium beer deal

WA sports fans will get a true taste of the State at the new Perth Stadium after Gage Roads won the venue’s lucrative beer contract.

As The Sip forecast in July, a tip that garnered great support throughout the community, Gage Roads will provide around 1.2 million litres of beer a year to the stadium.

Stadium operators wanted the new operation to reflect WA and have gone for a brewery with an iconic State name and one that is based on the west coast.

Indeed, Gage Roads beat off bigger enterprises CUB and Lion for the stadium pourage rights.

Gage Roads National Sales and Marketing Manager, Scott Player, said the tender win was a major milestone for the proudly Western Australian brewer and a ringing endorsement of the quality of its craft products.

“We are extremely proud to be awarded the supply rights to the new, world-class 60,000-seat Perth Stadium. This contract presents a unique opportunity for Gage Roads to showcase to a wide audience the quality of our craft ales, lagers and ciders, all made here in Perth,” Player said.

“Our appointment puts the fans first by recognising the growing demand among consumers for greater variety and quality products at entertainment venues.

“It also means most of the value of the contract stays in the State, with our commitment to using local suppliers and the growth of our local workforce that will occur because of the tender win.”

Mr Player said Gage Roads injected about $22 million a year into the State economy and supported hundreds of local businesses across a broad range of industries including farming, manufacturing, logistics and hospitality.

“Our vision is to see Gage Roads established as the State’s iconic beer brand. This contract award is an important milestone in the achievement of that goal,” he said.

Which Gage Roads beers will be available at the new stadium is still up in the air as the venue operator has yet to obtain a liquor licence. The stadium staff are pushing for the right to offer full strength beer (5%) to all sections of the venue.

It has been a big weekend for Gage Roads. On Friday the brewery collected a raft of gongs at the Sydney Royal Beer and Cider competition.
